BRADES, Montserrat -- Nine out of ten persons
who visit Montserrat would definitely return.
This was revealed in a visitor exit survey
conducted for the past year on overnight
visitors by the Montserrat Tourist Board.
A press release from the MTB states that the
exit survey covered 1,182 respondents and was
carried out over the period June 2009 to May
2010 at the John A. Osborne Airport and the
Ferry port in Little Bay.
According to the Tourist Board, nine out of ten
visitors indicated they would definitely return
to the island and would definitely recommend the
island to a friend.
In rating elements of the tourism product, the
survey showed that visitors gave the warmth and
friendliness of the people the highest score
with an excellent rating. Volcano Watching,
hiking, and festivals were given the highest
ratings under activities for the island.
The press release states that visitors also
pointed out that overall Montserrat provided
very good value for money with the accommodation
component scoring the highest.
Commenting on these results, Director of Tourism
Ernestine Cassell said that she is pleased with
the results of the exit surveys.
She went on to say that despite challenges with
access and our sometimes temperamental volcano,
the results show that the island has a very good
tourism product to offer visitors.
Cassell acknowledged that the surveys also
provided constructive feedback on areas of
improvement that are needed, which the Tourist
Board will work on diligently.
